Alongside Six, by Maya Studio, is a space where movement, water and community meet 𓂃 𓈒𓏸
We're a movement and wellness studio rooted in embodied practice - a calm, considered pause from the rhythm of the city.
Somewhere to move, restore and gather with intention
Floating on Regent's Canal, we're a light-filled studio aboard a restored 1930s barge, permanently moored in Angel.
Infrared heat runs through selected classes, designed to deepen and elevate your practice.

What to know before you board

So… Find Alongside Six Studio on Google Maps or search 172 Shepherdess Walk, London, N1 7JL
and then… Standing on the South Side of the canal facing North, there is a black pedestrian gate to the right-hand side, beside a black promotional screen for ‘Eagle Wharf Marina’
followed by… Ringing the buzzer beside the gate for Alongside Six, by pressing Number 1, followed by the bell. We will give you access by buzzing you through.
and lastly… walk to the very end of the boardwalk / pontoon until you reach the very last large barge (brown and white with a blue door), located beside the trees (2 min walk)
then come on in, and check in.

Because of our buzzer system, timing matters more here than at most studios - please arrive between 5 and 15 minutes before your class so a member of the team can let you in. Do allow for the two-minute walk from the marina entrance to the studio. Please note that buzzing the gate 15 minutes before your class begins may disturb the wind-down of the previous session and the instructor teaching, so please refrain from doing so unless gaining early access is completely necessary.
First visit
Arrive at least 10 minutes before your class starts so we can check you in and give you a quick induction. Please arrive no later than 5 minutes before.
Returning guests
As it takes 2 minutes from the marina gate to reach the studio, our instructor will stay by at the gate buzzer until 2 minutes before class begins. After that, reception closes for the duration of the class, and we'd kindly ask that you refrain from buzzing once the class has started so as not to disturb the class in progress.

Toilets and two shower cubicles are in the main building, 30 seconds up the boardwalk - so you can come straight before work, or head straight on out afterwards.
Onboard the barge you'll find a communal changing room and a self-contained private changing area, stocked with shower supplies to take with you, deodorant, cleanser, body spray, a hairdryer and straighteners.
Towels aren't currently provided, so if you plan to shower, please do bring your own.

Emily
FOUNDER | Sculpt & Pilates
Emily came to Pilates while studying, after repetitive lower body injuries from playing sport as a teenager. When she moved to London for work in 2020, it became her daily outlet - as good for her head as it was for her body. She began bringing her love of strength training into it too, and it was that pairing that made her feel her most confident, and kept her body working the way she wanted it to.
In early 2025 Emily spent a few months travelling, where she loved taking heated classes and got hooked on the Hot Sculpt scene booming in Australia. After returning to London she stumbled upon Lily Barge and felt noticeably still the moment she stepped onboard. She wanted to build somewhere others could feel that too: a place they could quiet the mind while moving the body.
Her classes focus on strength, stability, confidence and presence. Expect warmth, encouragement, and always a moment of stillness to check in with yourself before you head back out.

Tuula
YOGA | 4 beat
Tuula's teaching weaves strength and flow with moments of stillness and restoration - progressive sequencing and rhythmic transitions that build presence, stamina and power.Yoga has been a source of grounding for Tuula since her teenage years, evolving into an essential practice that has supported her through all stages of life.
Inspired by its capacity to shift and steady the mind, she undertook her first teacher training in Nepal in 2018, and has since deepened her practice through continued learning, including 4Beat training.
Tuula joined Alongside Six at the very beginning, having been connected with Emily through a dear mutual friend and became a core member of the founding instructor team.

Laura
PILATES | Heated & Unheated
Laura trained as a dancer and progressed into teaching both mat and reformer pilates in studios in London. She is passionate about helping clients gain strength, confidence and to look after their health both through exercise and diet - with her also undertaking a degree in nutrition & dietetics, which she has recently completed (well done Laura - big ups to you).Her classes are always uplifting and flowing, incorporate elements of classical pilates, and are thoughtfully curated leaving you feeling worked and restored in tandem.
Laura has also been a part of the Alongside Six core teaching team from the beginning, and was the first pilates instructor to join the team in April 2026.

Fiona
YOGA & SOUND | Vinyasa, Stretch & Sound
Fiona is a yoga teacher and sound healing practitioner. Originally from Dublin, she has been practising yoga for over 12 years. What began as a way to stay active through hot yoga soon became something much deeper. Having experienced struggles with her own mental health, Fiona discovered the powerful impact yoga can have, not just on the body, but on the mind and soul.Over time, it became a source of healing and a meaningful way of life - on and off the mat. Fiona wants her classes to empower others to find this same peace and balance.
She became a teacher to share the wonderful benefits of yoga with others and worked in one of Dublin’s most reputable yoga studios before moving to London in 2025. Last year, Fiona expanded her work to include sound therapy. Rooted in ancient traditions, sound has the ability to gently support healing and restoration.
Fiona joined an event Emily ran on Lily Barge in September 2025 where they first met, and become the first yoga instructor to join the core team earlier this year.

We have lots more amazing instructors that work at the studio regularly including Ellie (Yoga) , Lucy (Yoga), Nathalie (Sculpt), Erin (Pilates), Clí (Pilates), Mari (Sculpt) and other fabulous cover instructors who drop in more occasionally.
Over the coming months we will be building out our instructor team intentionally and look forward to welcoming more members to the core team and to our cover list.
